Christina had an appointment on Monday for a port flush. I did my training again and I successfully was able to flush her port. Unfortunately I did not get any drawback.

The nurse training also tried. She also was not able to get any drawback; however, mentioned how well the port flushed. We then tried TPA for 30 minutes. Given how late it was in the day I opted not to go longer. I wanted to get Christina home so I could feed her supper and we could get back into a routine starting with bedtime.

I called the hospital that placed the port and told them of our dilemma. Christina has not had a successful drawback. The port was placed on February 19th. That leaves 2 months of no drawback and that is an indicator that something is wrong.

I am waiting to hear back from Interventional Radiology to get Christina on the schedule. It has only been two days as I called on Wednesday, but it feels like 2 weeks. Christina has an appointment on Monday with PM&R and I will ask more questions while we are there.

Hopefully this is resolved quickly and with little incident.
